Victim leaves suicide note accusing her love interest
By leaving behind a suicide note, a teenage girl has reportedly poisoned herself to death in Mymensingh.
The incident happened in Teluari village under Atharabari union of Mymensingh’s Ishwarganj upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Mim Akter, 14, an eighth grader of Atharabari MC High School, confirmed Ishwarganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Quader Mia.
Mother of the deceased, Nehara Akter, found her lying unconscious around 8pm on Wednesday and rushed her to Ishwarganj Upazila Health Complex.
Later, Mim was shifted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital as her condition deteriorated. She was declared dead around 11:55pm on Thursday.
According to Mim’s Father, Saiful Islam, she consumed the poison as her relationship with Johirul Mia was failing. In her note, she had asked for forgiveness from her parents and family for not being able to live with the sin that Johirul had inflicted upon her, he added.
Saiful had filed a case against Johirul Mia, 19, with Ishwarganj police station. “The accused will be arrested soon,” assured OC Abdul Quader Mia.
Johirul, a resident of the same village, is on the run since the filing of the case.
