Another policeman hospitalized with severe injuries
A 31-year-old policeman riding a motorcycle was killed in Dhaka’s Savar on Wednesday following a hit-and-run collision with a truck.
The motorbike, on which Forhad Hossain, who was posted at the EPZ-based Armed Police Battalion, and his 22-year-old colleague Yousuf Hossain were riding, was hit by a covered van on the Tongi-Ashulia-EPZ Road at Narsinghpur area, said the local Ashulia police.
Forhad died on the spot while Yousuf is being treated at a local hospital, said Sub Inspector Farhad Husain of the Ashulia police station.
“The covered van hit the motorcycle when they were crossing the garments factory of Medlar Apparels ltd, near Ashulia’s Narsinghpur around 8pm Wednesday. Forhad was killed on the spot,” said the police officer.
The vehicle managed to flee the scene after the accident, he added.
The victim’s body has been sent to the Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in Dhaka for autopsy.
