Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Peyarul Islam was stabbed to death by the accused while he was being arrested during a drive
Parvez Rahman Palash, accused of stabbing Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Peyarul Islam to death last Friday, has pledged guilty to the murder charges against him.
The accused gave his confessional statement at the court of Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Al Mehmud on Friday evening, under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Confirming the matter, Rangpur PBI Superintendent of Police ABM Zakir Hossain said: “The accused has provided a lot of important information, which will play a vital role in further investigation.”
Meanwhile, the court ordered to send the accused to jail after the deposition.
Earlier on September 24, Palash left ASI Peyarul critically injured by stabbing his abdomen and back. Palash was being arrested with 151 yaba pills during a drive in Haragach upazila of Rangpur.

Later, with the help of the locals, police arrested Palash while he was trying to flee the scene.
The officer was rushed to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for treatment.
At around 11:30am Saturday, Peyarul succumbed to his injuries at the ICU of the hospital.
Two cases were filed under Murder and Narcotics Act against the accused with Haragach police station.
Following the incident, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed ordered the Rangpur Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate the cases.
On Thursday, a Rangpur court placed Palash on three-days remand.
He pleaded guilty to the murder charge against him on Friday.
