2 injured in Madaripur bomb blast

Two men were injured in a blast that occurred when they were allegedly building an improvised explosive device (IED) at a house in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur district on Tuesday, police said.

The injured were identified as Sumon Shikdar, 50 and Yeasin Bepari, 40.

Madaripur Superintendent of Police Golam Mostafa Russel said the explosion occurred at the house of UP member Mannan Molla early Tuesday morning, leaving two people injured.

Later, they were taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital.

The tin-roof of the house was blown off during the explosion, said sources.

UP member Manna has been absconding since the incident.
