Party chief Sheikh Hasina also picks candidates for upazila, municipal and Union Parishad polls
The ruling Awami League has picked its central working committee member Merina Jahan for the Sirajganj-6 by polls slated for November 2.
The party’s parliamentary board chaired by its President Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina finalised the nomination during a meeting at Ganabhaban on Thursday.
After the meeting, Office Secretary Biplab Barua confirmed this matter to media on in the Thursday evening.
The meeting also picked party candidates for the upcoming upazila, municipal and Union Parishad elections.
The seat fell vacant after Awami League lawmaker Md Hasibur Rahman Swapon passed away on September 2 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Turkey.
