The ruling party wing’s new Lalmai upazila committee was announced two days ago
Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Lalmai upazila unit has removed a fourth-grader from its new committee, a day after it was announced and the inclusion of the child in it by mistake went viral on social media.
The news of the 12-year-old becoming a general member of the 71-strong committee, which was made public on Tuesday, had drawn severe ridicule and criticism on social media.
The decision to remove the boy from the committee was announced on Wednesday evening through a notice, signed by Chhatra League’s Comilla district (south) unit President Abu Taiyab Opi and General Secretary Lokman Hossain Rubel.
However, the duo, who had announced the new Lalmai committee Tuesday evening, did not specify any reason behind the removal.

The boy’s father confirmed that his son is a fourth-grader at a school a Comilla city. However, the man is not bothered by the situation.
"My son is 12 years old. Bangabandhu [Shiekh Mujibur Rahman] had joined Chhatra League at the age of 10. So there should be no problem where my son is concerned. But if there is, I will take care of it,” said the father.
Reached for comment, Opi said the inclusion of the schoolboy’s name in the committee was a mistake. “We addressed the matter and removed him from the committee after we were notified.”
This committee, with Shahparan Saudagar as the president and Ariful Islam Rabbi as the general secretary, is the first one by Chhatra League after Lalmai was made an upazila four years ago.
