Chinese citizen dies after falling from ship in Chittagong

A 38-year-old Chinese citizen died after accidentally injuring himself and falling from a foreign ship near Patenga Light House, Chittagong on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Hu Haikiang, 38,  who used to work as a deck foreman of a Panama-flagged container ship MV Maersk Jakarta.

Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Patenga police station Officer-in-charge (OC) Kabir Hossain said: “Haikiang was repairing the ship near Patenga beach in the morning. At that time, he accidentally injured himself and fell down from the ship.” 

Being informed, a Coast Guard patrol ship rescued the crew and rushed him to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) around 12:15pm, where the duty doctor declared him dead.
