The teacher will be suspended from his position, says the madrasa super
Police on Friday detained a madrasa teacher for giving forced haircuts to six of his students in Lakshmipur.
The detainee was identified as Monzurul Kabir, assistant teacher of Kazir Dighi Par Alim Madrasa at Bamni union under Raipur upazila of the district.
Raipur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Jalil confirmed the matter.
According to sources, police detained Monzurul from his home at 8:45pm on Friday.
The video of the incident, which occurred on Wednesday, went viral on social media and sparked outrage among the guardians and the students.

Madrasa Super Maulana Barakat Ullah said Monzurul would be suspended from his position.
The accused teacher, Monzurul Kabir said: “I asked all the students to get a haircut before their Dakhil exams. As some of them did not listen to me, I cut their hair.”
Raipur police OC Abdul Jalil said a case would be filed in this regard by the guardians of the students soon.
Recently, another incident of forced haircut of students by a teacher at Rabindra University created controversy across the country. The accused teacher was suspended amid mass protests.
