Sex worker’s decapitated body found in Daulatdia brothel

Police on Saturday morning recovered the decapitated body of a sex worker from the Daulatdia brothel in Rajbari’s Goalanda upazila.

The deceased has been identified as Ritu Akhter, 30. Originally hailing from Gazipur’s Sreepur upazila, she was a tenant of one Sujan Khandaker at the brothel, confirmed Goalanda Ghat police station OC Abdullah Al Taybi.

According to sources, locals first noticed blood seeping out from underneath the door to Ritu’s rented house on Saturday morning.

Later, when they broke into her house they discovered her decapitated body lying in a pool of blood on the floor.

Informed, police reached the scene, recovered the body and sent it to Rajbari Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.

The victim’s daughter said their landlord Sujan Khandaker had visited her mother Friday night.

She said: "I was in the room next door at that time and later fell asleep. When I woke up late the next morning, I learned that someone had slaughtered her mother. My mother did not have any enmity with anyone."

OC Abdullah Al Taybi said there were signs of multiple injuries on the body. 

“She was first hacked indiscriminately before being decapitated. The mystery of the murder will be revealed after interrogating all individuals concerned,” added the police officer.
