He pressed home the demand by wearing a placard around his neck
SM Shahzada, the member of parliament from Patuakhali 3, has demanded the construction of dams and barrages in his constituency to protect residents of the area from cyclones and flooding.
The MP pressed home the demand by wearing a placard around his neck during a discussion on the proposed budget for FY22 in parliament on Wednesday.

“After the recent Cyclone Yaas, I, like many other MPs, rushed to my constituency to provide people with food and relief. You have seen how many MPs in cyclone prone areas faced public outrage,” Shahzada said.
“The people told me that they do not want relief, they want dams. They showed me this placard, and I am wearing it in parliament now because I am one them as well,” he added.
Shahzada’s microphone was switched off before he could continue, as his allotted time had expired.
