The veteran lawmaker will be laid to rest on Sunday
The body of Syed Ashraful Islam, former Awami League general secretary and public administration minister of the previous Cabinet, arrived in Dhaka from Bangkok on Saturday.
An Awami League delegation, led by the party's General Secretary Obaidul Quader, received the body at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 6pm.
The body is being taken to his Baily Road residence first, where it will be kept until 8:30pm before being moved to the Combined Military Hospital.
The Public Administration Ministry on Friday announced the schedule of multiple namaz-e-janazas and other events to honour the veteran politician.

On Sunday, a namaz-e-janaza, open for all, will be held for Syed Ashraf at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 10:30am. He will also be given a guard of honour.
Subsequently, his body will be flown to Kishoreganj via helicopter for a second janaza at the Sholakia Eidgah around 12pm. A third janaza will be held at Anjuman Eidgah grounds in Mymensingh around 2pm.
He will then be flown back to the capital and laid to rest at the Banani Graveyard after the Asr prayers.

The 68-year-old veteran politician passed away at Bumrungrad International Hospital’s Critical Care Medicine Unit in Bangkok, Thailand around 9:45pm BdST on Thursday.
Suffering from stage four lung cancer, the former Awami League general secretary had been undergoing treatment at the Thai hospital for the past few months.
President Md Abdul Hamid and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina, as well as other senior party leaders and members of the previous Cabinet, have expressed their deepest condolences over Syed Ashraf's death.
