They alleged that Quader Khan, who was arrested last week, had been behind the murder of former Gaibandha’s Sundarganj Upazila unit JaPa president barrister Shamim Haider Patwari, also the legal affairs adviser to HM Ershad, and Awami League lawmaker Md Manjurul Islam Liton.
The Chhatra Samaj supporters brought out a procession and held a rally at Bangabandhu Chattar in Sundarganj yesterday.
Senior leaders of JaPa’s Sundarganj unit including Senior Vice-President Maulana Abul Hossain and the convener of Chhatra Samaj’s upazila unit, Shah Sultan Ahmed, also spoke at the rally among others.
Quader was placed on 10-day police remand on Wednesday, a day after he was arrested from his Bogra house for planning and financing the murder of the Sundarganj lawmaker. Liton was shot dead on December 31.
