BNP-backed mayoral candidate for the upcoming Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) polls, Hasan Uddin Sarkar has vowed to make a serious effort for keeping the city free of intimidators, hooligans and illegal tenders.
In a press conference at his residence on Thursday, he announced a 19-point election manifesto outlining his promises for improving the lives of the city dwellers.
Hasan’s manifesto includes strategies such as building a Nagar Bhaban, ensuring coordination with aid agencies, installing technology to curb corruption and further developing education, healthcare, housing, transportation, food, and public security sectors.
He also spoke about creating a master plan, formulated by foreign and domestic city planning, to further develop Gazipur.
Hasan also announced plans to form a Nagorik Upodesta Committee (Citizen Advisory Committee) to identify and solve issues throughout the city.
Addressing the press conference, he said: “I will introduce e-tender system in Gazipur to help curb corruption and increase transparency in all the services provided by the Gazipur City Corporation.”
Among other guests, BNP Standing Committee Member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, central Organizing Secretary Ruhul Kuddus Talukder Dulu, and BNP Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie were present at the event.
