Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has emphasized the need for sustainable politics and economy in Bangladesh, disassociating with militancy and terrorism.

"Sustainable politics and sustainable economy - these two preconditions are must to continue progress," he said while addressing a function on Tuesday, arranged by the Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) at its office in the Dhaka, reports UNB.

The minister also said militancy and terrorism must be kept out of power and politics for sustainable politics.

He went on to say that Bangladesh will have to follow "inclusive economy" policy for making economic growth sustainable.

The information minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has created a place for “trust, reliability and confidence” the way the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had created, based on which Bangladesh earned her independence.

"We must remain engaged and keep chasing the goal. Success will surely come. Since we remained engaged and consistently chased a goal, our economy made a turnaround," he said.

Inu said every effort must have a philosophy, but stressed that those who believe in communalism, militancy, terrorism, and who are pro-Pakistani, have none.

He described various development efforts of the government and laid emphasis on further development from Chittagong to Cox's Bazar for better economic growth.

Earlier, he formally launched the ERF website (http://bangla.erfbd.com) and unveiled a members' directory of the ERF.

Writers among the ERF members were also honoured for their recent publications.

ERF President Saif Islam Dilal, ERF Assistant General Secretary Rizvi Newaz, and former ERF leaders, among others, spoke at the occasion.
