He said 32 more parties have called for dialogues about the upcoming national election
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said it will not be possible to hold any more dialogues with political parties after November 7.
“We will not hold any talks after November 7 as the election schedule will have been announced by then,” he told reporters on Saturday.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, made the remark while visiting Bangabandhu Memorial Museum on Dhanmondi 32, in Dhaka, as part of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s delegation commemorating Jail Killing Day. An Awami League delegation led by the party President Sheikh Hasina paid homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the four martyred national leaders.
He said 32 more parties have called to hold dialogues about the upcoming national election, scheduled to be held at the end of December.
The ruling Awami League-led grand alliance already held a dialogue with Jatiya Oikya Front on November 1 in an effort to resolve the present political crisis—to ensure a peaceful parliamentary election.
Quader said Awami League wants a free, fair, and participatory election and this is why dialogues will take place as per parties’ demands.
“We are not holding the dialogues to show off,” he said.
The Awami League leader said they are working to avert attempts to foil the election.
