BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed deep shock at the death of Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman and deposed military ruler HM Ershad.
In a condolence message released on Sunday, Fakhrul prayed for the salvation of Ershad's soul and conveyed profound sympathy to his bereaved family members and well-wishers, reports UNB.

Earlier at a press conference, party Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi declined to give instant reaction to Ershad's death.
"We are now busy with preparations for rallies in Barishal on July 18 and Chittagong on July 20, demanding the release of our Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
"We will come up with the reaction a few days later," he added.

Ershad, a former military strongman, died in around 7:45am Sunday while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
He was 89.
He will be laid to rest at the Military Graveyard in Banani on Tuesday.
