Party leaders in Rangpur demanded that Ershad be buried there
Jatiya Party has decided to bury their Chairman Hussain Mouhammad Ershad at the Army Graveyard in Dhaka.
The former president will be buried after asr prayers, said a statement signed by Khandaker Delwar Jalali, JaPa's deputy press secretary.
According to the statement, the decision of burying Ershad in Dhaka was taken on Monday night.
His body is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka from Rangpur on Tuesday afternoon.
Earlier in the morning, Ershad's body was flown to Rangpur.
The former Chief Martial Law Administrator breathed his last on Sunday at Combined Military Hospital (CMH).
Following his death, Jatiya Party’s Rangpur unit leaders demanded that Ershad be buried either in Rangpur or beside the mausoleum of three leaders at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka.
