He also said AL was trying to build a country without democracy

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said Awami League has failed to provide any guidance to overcome the economic, social, and political developmental crises  of Bangladesh.

He made the remarks while addressing journalists after a doa mahfil (prayer meeting) at BNP's central office in Dhaka's Naya Paltan on Saturday.

Stating that Awami League is moving towards establishing a one-party rule for the last decade, the BNP senior leader said: "People hoped that the ruling party will lead the country to a path to democracy, but they failed to provide guidance to overcome any crisis."

Responding to a query about BNP's council, he said the political culture is very hostile, therefore there is no space for conducting any political activities.

He said: "We are not allowed to hold councils in most places, especially in different districts and upazilas.

"However, we are trying to organize the party under the leadership of acting chairperson Tarique Rahman. In the meantime, we will try to hold councils."

The BNP secretary general added: "They are trying to build a state without democracy by completely ignoring the constitution. These matters also came up during their council, which is why the nation is disappointed."

When reporters asked him about some Awami League leaders blaming BNP-Jamaat for the flaws in the Razakar list, he said: "Blaming others for their own failures is Awami League’s nature."

Zia Parishad organized a milad and doa mahfil in commemoration of Kabir Murad, a member of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s advisory council and also the founding chairman of Zia Parishad.

Advisory council member Prof Abdul Quddus, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Zia Parishad Senior Vice President Professor Salimullah Khan, among others, were present at the event.
