Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has urged all leaders and activists of the ruling party to be prepared as the Covid-19 situation may worsen in Bangladesh in coming days.
“We have to face this challenge with courage,” he said while addressing a virtual press conference on current affairs from his official residence on Thursday, UNB reported.
Quader, who is also the road transport and bridges minister, said Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was always beside the people of the country, and she is being applauded around the world for her efforts in tackling the global pandemic.
He further said the ruling party had so far provided food and cash assistance worth Tk8.62 crore to over nine million families across the country, amid the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown.
He also recalled the homecoming day of party chief Sheikh Hasina.
Awami League President Sheikh Hasina returned home from the US on May 7 in 2007, defying a ban on her return during the state of emergency.
