14-Party Alliance gets Amir Hossain Amu as new coordinator

The role became vacant after Awami League Presidium member Mohammad Nasim passed away last month

Senior Awami League leader Amir Hossain Amu has been made the new coordinator and spokesperson of the ruling party-led 14-Party Alliance.

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader made the announcement at a press briefing from his official residence on Wednesday afternoon.

He said Awami League President Sheikh Hasina gave the responsibility to Amu following consultation with the coalition member parties.

Former industries minister Amu is also a member of the ruling party's Advisory Council.

The role of the coalition's coordinator and spokesperson became vacant after Awami League Presidium member Mohammad Nasim passed away on June 13.

Apart from the ruling party, current members of the 14-Party Alliance include Workers Party of Bangladesh, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSaD), Samyabadi Dal, Gonotontri Party, Communist Kendra, Gano Azadi League, Ganatantrik Mazdoor Party, Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (Ambia), Jatiya Party-JP, and NAP (Muzaffar).
