Noakhali’s Basurhat municipality Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza raised the allegations against his elder brother on Sunday afternoon
Abdul Quader Mirza, the younger brother of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, has alleged that his elder brother, and Road Transport and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader is conspiring against him to keep his mouth shut.
Mirza, also the mayor of Basurhat municipality of Noakhali, raised the allegations at a press briefing at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Sunday.
"Mr Obaidul Quader is conspiring against me to keep my mouth shut,” told his younger brother Mirza.
He said: “There is a man named Russell, who lives in Dhaka, who threatened me using my brother’s name. I have been threatened by various government agencies too not to hold this press conference.”

Earlier on January 30, Quader Mirza had withdrawn his previously declared strike in Noakhali in deference to the command of his party high-ups after meeting with his elder brother, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader, at the party central office in Bangabandhu Avenue.
After that meeting, Mirza said: “We will wait for a month. If political malpractice and tender manipulations do not stop, we will declare our next course of action.”
However, on Sunday, Mirza Quader held this press briefing and raised allegations against his older brother before the media within 15 days.
