Ziaur Rahman the visible beneficiary of Bangabandhu killing, Awami League leaders say
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said BNP introduced the politics of killing and abduction in the country.
"The cutting of cakes [by BNP] on National Mourning Day on August 15 is politics of vengeance. BNP initiated the politics of killing and abduction in the country," Quader told a discussion and doa mahfil to mark National Mourning Day at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) auditorium in Dhaka.
Bangladesh Krishak League arranged the discussion, which was followed by the distribution of food among distressed and poor people on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam, and Agriculture and Cooperatives Affairs Secretary Faridunnahar Laily also addressed the discussion, among others.
Krishak League President Samir Chanda chaired the program moderated by its General Secretary Advocate Umme Kulsum Smriti.
Hanif said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated under the patronization of the defeated forces of the 1971 Liberation War, and Ziaur Rahman was the visible beneficiary of the killing.
BNP founder Ziaur Rahman incorporated the Indemnity Ordinance in the country's constitution to stop the trial of Bangabandhu's assassination, and he gave jobs to killers in foreign missions after the four national leaders were killed inside safe custody of Dhaka Central Jail, he added.
The Awami League joint general secretary said the BNP founder brought Ghulam Azam back to the country, and he also made Shah Aziz and Abdul Alim ministers.
Following the footsteps of Ziaur Rahman, his wife Begum Khaleda Zia also, when she was the prime minister, made Motiur Rahman Nizami minister in 2001.
