Curtains drawn on Power and Energy Week amid high hopes

The Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry organized the 3-day annual event at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka, with an aim to reiterate its vision for this sector

This year’s Power and Energy Week, organized to highlight the government’s success in the power and energy, ended on Friday, with the organizers dreaming big for the sector’s future.

The Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry organized the 3-day annual event at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka, with an aim to reiterate its vision for this sector.

Addressing the event as chief guest, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said:“The people must increase their working capacity, since it is the key to the country’s success.”

“As power and energy generation increases, different sectors flourish, thus, creating massive employment opportunities. If this trend continues, it will generate resources in the country, thereby supporting the ongoing smooth development of Bangladesh.”

He opinioned that, the people’s working capacity must be enhanced to boost the country’s resources. “All of us are engaged with furthering this goal,as energy greatly helps us enrich our life.”

The ministry also called for efficient use of energy to ensure proper growth of the country. 

Prime Minister’s Power and Energy Adviser Dr Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, speaking as the special guest at the concluding ceremony, said:“The achievement that the government made in the sector has been possible because of outstanding working skills and competency.”

Urging the youth to get involved more in the process of the country’s success, he added that it is mandatory to ensure food, health care and employment for all.

Power Division Secretary Dr Ahmad Kaikaus said: “Spirit of the youth surrounds us- a feat which is well appreciated even by the international community.”

“We have integrated the young generation into the power sector through this annual event.”

Abu Hena Md Rahmatul Muneem, secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, said: “The Power and Energy Week was a success, as it drew huge participation from local youths, alongside foreign delegates and entrepreneurs.”

Giving credit to the incorporation of private sector in power and energy projects, he pointed out that the development was largely made possible due to the involvement of the people.

Several people were awarded under different categories at the concluding ceremony.
