The envoy visited a refugee camp near the Naikhongchhari border
Visiting UN envoy Yanghee Lee on Monday suggested that the United Nations (UN) have been applying increasing diplomatic pressure to stop genocidal atrocities in the Rakhine state of Myanmar and ensure an environment that is fit for the safe return of Rohingya refugees.
During her visit, the special envoy met representatives and leaders of different Rohingya organizations at the government office conference room in Kutupalong refugee camp, Ukhiya.
Later, she met five out of the 63 Rohingya refugees who had recently relocated in the refugee camps in Bangladesh after serving prison sentences.
Yanghee Lee then visited a refugee camp near the Naikhongchhari border and spoke to refugees at the camp.
Previously, she visited Bangladesh in January 2018 to visit the refugee camps.
