Light to moderate rain likely at many places across the country

With deep monsoon clouds forming in and around North Bay due to the effect of active monsoon winds, all sea ports in the country have been asked to hoist local cautionary signal No 3.

A Met Office bulletin on Wednesday said that there was a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions in the next 24 hours from 8am Wednesday.

The Met Office in another bulletin also predicted that light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at many places across the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9am Wednesday.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions and at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

It also forecasted moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the southern part of the country.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the bulletin added.

The country’s maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 36 degrees Celsius in Sylhet and Wednesday’s minimum 22.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Feni.

The highest rainfall -- 98 millimetres -- over the last 24 hours till 6am Wednesday was recorded in Chittagong’s Kutubdia.
