Against Rampal Power Plant
On November 25, 2016 at 4pm, Against the Rampal Power Plant – London Solidarity Action and the South Asia Solidarity Group, organised an event at SOAS, University of London, UK, in solidarity with the resistance in Bangladesh around the Rampal Coal-fired Power Plant and the displacement and violence against marginalised people in the name of “big development.” Two short films, a Skype conversation with two activists from Bangladesh, and a discussion took place to understand and resist the Rampal Power plant being built in Bangladesh. The films were Long Live Sundarbans by Bratto Amin and Rampal Local Thought 101 by Baki Billah. The two speakers were Arup Rahee, writer, activist, poet, thinker and general secretary of Center for Bangladesh Studies and Ahmad Ibrahim, researcher and activist.
