BTRC launches voice-mail service in Bangladesh
Sajeeb Wazed Joy, ICT affairs adviser to the prime minister, inaugurated the service by sending a voicemail using Robi’s network from Ganabhaban to BTRC Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmood on Monday. Joy congratulated the BTRC and its Chairman Shahjahan for launching the service. Voice mail allows users to leave voice messages when a person is unavailable at the time of calling and the person who missed the calls can play the messages later on. Tarana Halim, state minister for Posts and Telecommunication, also sent a voicemail, saying: “I hope the newly-introduced service would be helpful for the subscribers.” Robi, Banglalink and Teletalk will provide this service. BTRC Vice-Chairman Ahsan Habib, Robi CEO Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, Banglalink CEO Erik Aas and senior BTRC officials were present on this occasion. Shahjahan Mahmood said voicemail service is an easily acceptable and usable service. “As we had promised to launch the service at a mass hearing on November last year, we have fulfilled it by introducing the service,” he said. “From now on, BTRC will measure quality of mobile operator service in its own system, so we can find out the real picture of the services,” added Mahmood.
