Bahon looks to give Uber, Pathao a run for their money
Get Bahon Limited, a new IT start-up company is set to launch a car and bike ride sharing service in capital Dhaka on Wednesday. As an e-hailing service, Bahon hopes to compete with other services like Uber, the US-based ride sharing service, which has already grabbed a fair amount of market in the city. Following Uber’s success, a significant number of local start-ups have infiltrated the ride-hailing business in the last couple of years, such as Chalo, Amarbike, Pathao, SAM - share a motorcycle and Taxiwala. Last month, Innovadeous Pvt Ltd, an e-commerce consultant firm, also developed an app called “Ezzyr” to provide car and bike reservation services. Get Bahon Ltd has already launched their website (www.getbahon.com) and their app, Bahon, is also available on app stores for both iOS and Android users. It will, however, provide services only in Dhaka city area for now. “This service will revolutionise commuting in Dhaka with affordable fare and user-friendly interface, while maintaining an international standard quality,” said Sanaullah Morshed, managing director of Get Bahon Ltd. “We are providing economy and premium class cars and bikes all on the single app. A new feature called ‘track ride’ has also been installed into the app to track current locations in real time,” he told the Dhaka Tribune. Bahon has already created networks with potential partners who are ready to receive potential customers. The adept management team and partners are working hand-in-hand to ensure that customers are fully satisfied when Bahon goes live this Wednesday, according a press release. Bahon promises to provide different forms of services and payment methods to satisfy customer needs. The app also has emergency contact service, such as numbers and address to police stations and hospitals. Bahon app’s uniqueness also lies in the convenience to make a direct call with a single tap. The transport regulatory body, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority is yet to officially allow any ride-sharing service in the country, as it is currently working to finalise the draft guideline for such businesses. In the meantime, the start-up companies are taking the opportunity of the future referendum of ‘Digital Bangladesh’ and doing test-runs. “As a start-up, we will be operating unofficially. However, once the guideline is finalised and in effect, we will follow it,” said Sanaullah.
