Faculty members and executives of the University of Dhaka will benefit from this card.
City Bank has launched the first co-branded credit card in partnership with Dhaka University (DU) and American Express on Sunday.
The launch was held in the conference hall of the Faculty of Business Studies at the DU campus.
The card has been specially designed for faculty members and executives associated of the university and offers them customized services and benefits.
Speaking at the event, City Bank Chairman Mohammed Shoeb said that they were very proud to be associated with DU.
“I believe faculty members and executives of the university will appreciate and enjoy the great service and benefits that come with this card,” Shoeb said.
On approval of the card, members will be presented with welcome vouchers that offer savings at various stores. Cardholders will not be required to pay the annual fee and will get one free supplementary card.
Commenting on the partnership Divya Jain, vice president and Business Head of Global Network Services in South Asia for American Express said the introduction of this card marked a milestone for all three organizations.
“American Express and City Bank have collaborated well over the years to deliver a greater level of product innovation and established a premium card product within the Bangladesh card market,” said Divya.
City Bank has been the sole card issuer and merchant acquirer of American Express in Bangladesh since 2009.
Among others, Tabassum Kaiser, vice chairperson of City Bank, Sohail RK Hussain, MD and CEO of City Bank, Kurush Dastoor, director of Global Network Services in South Asia for American Express, Dr Kamal Uddin, treasurer of Faculty of Business Studies at DU, and Dean of Faculty of Business Studies, Professor Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam, were present at the launching ceremony.
