Stakeholders urged the government to increase investment in the tourism sector to attract national and international tourists and holidaymakers
The three-day long cultural show, Biman Tourism Fest-2018 that began on Thursday at Dhamondi's Rabindra Sarabor, concluded on Saturday.
Earlier, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal inaugurated the festival.
The fest was opened for public everyday from 10:00am to 7:00pm where different organizations displayed their tourism oriented products and services at the venue. Tribal and traditional dance performances were also arranged.
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Razia Sultana, a visitor at the fair, said she was looking for special discounts on offer by the numerous tourism and travel agencies participating in the event.
“Many stalls are offering exclusive and lucrative discounts here, and I am planning to choose one of the offers for a future trip,” said Razia.

By developing infrastructure, ensuring entertainment facilities at tourist spots and digital campaigns will attract tourists in large numbers and economy will boost further, speakers opined.
President of Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) Towfiq Uddin Ahmed said, government should boost Halal tourism in the country in order to attract Muslim tourists it should also relax visa procedures for Indian tourists.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines, US-Bangla Airlines, NOVOAIR, Rangdhanu group, Regent Airways and the Way Dhaka, Well Food and DBC News sponsored the event. They were also food and media partners.
Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC), Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) and Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) also joined hands as strategic partners of the festival.
