A total of 152 companies applied in five categories this year
Four local IT firms and one person have won “The Daily Star ICT Awards-2018” for their outstanding contributions to the ICT industry.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith handed over crests to the winners at the event held at Dhaka’s Le Méridien on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, the finance minister said: “Since the ICT sector growing very quickly, the government chose information and communication technology to spearhead the country's development.”
Internationally reputed entrepreneur and founder of the Daffodil Family Md Sabur Khan won the ICT Business Person of the Year award.
Of the winning firms, e-commerce siteBagdoom received the Digital Commerce of the Year award.
Graphic People Ltd won the ICT Solution Provider of the Year (International Market Focus) award.
The ICT Solution Provider of the Year (Local Market Focus) award went to Synesis IT Ltd, while the ICT Start-up of the Year award went to Shohoz.
Co-founder of Bagdoom Syeda Kamrun Ahmed, Chairperson of Graphic People Ltd Geeteara Safiya Choudhury, Managing Director of Synesis IT Shohorab Ahmed Chowdhury, and Founder and Managing Director of Shohoz Maliha M Quadir, received the awards on behalf of their respective organizations.
A total of 152 companies applied in five categories this year.
Microsoft Bangladesh and Brac Bank jointly organized the award ceremony, while Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) sponsored the event.
Among others, International Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister Gowher Rizvi, Managing Director of Microsoft Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, and Laos Sonia Bashir Kabir, Managing Director and CEO of BRAC Bank Selim RF Hussain, and BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir, were also present at the ceremony.
