Created by professionals from across the globe, MedInIndia is a healthcare facilitating company that promises to make life easier for Bangladeshi patients flocking to India for treatment
While medical tourism to India is booming, there are yet to be any professional services to help patients navigate the healthcare industry there.
Now, Kolkata-based start-up MedInIndia (MII) Healthcare is planning to solve this problem. Created by professionals from across the globe, MedInIndia is a healthcare facilitating company that promises to make life easier for Bangladeshi patients flocking to India for treatment.
Despite medical tourism being on a meteoric rise in India, there is no corporate-structured entity offering streamlined, professional and efficient service to international patients, the founders of MedInIndia said.
“Medical tourism in India is booming. Thanks to the number of qualified doctors and the ever-evolving healthcare facilities, India has catapulted itself to being one of the forerunners when it comes to providing quality healthcare treatment at an extremely affordable cost. However, there is a dearth of registered healthcare facilitators in India to take care of the ever-increasing demands of this industry,” said Rubayat Kadir, managing director of MedInIndia.
He added: “Indian medical tourism is an ever-growing sector expected to touch the $8 billion mark by 2020. But, till date, it remains highly disorganized, ruled by travel agents, middlemen and unregistered facilitators.”
According to Rubayat, middlemen, till date, play a vital role for many patients from Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal, to get treated in India.
MedInIndia will provide patients with services starting from securing medical visas, getting immediate appointments with the best doctors and hospitals, to do diagnostic testing, accommodation, local transportation, personal concierge service in India and after-care treatment back home.
“We are like a one-stop-shop facilitator,” Rubayat said.
Asked how interested patients could avail their help, Parikshit Majumdar, co-founder of MedInIndia, said: “All they need to do is either call us 24/7, or visit our local office in Dhaka or Kolkata or our website www.medinindia.net and get registered for a very nominal fee. We take care of every aspect from that point on, to ensure every patient’s ultimate well-being and peace of mind.”
Parikshit added that while MedInIndia’s initial focus has been on patients from Bangladesh, it will soon come to Bhutan, USA, UK and several African nations.
Cardio-thoracic surgeon Dr Parvez Sultan, another co-founder of MedInIndia, said: “We have partnered with the best hospitals such as Apollo, AMRI, Medica and Praava Health, diagnostic centers and highly reputed doctors in surgical oncology, orthopedics, bariatric surgery, bone marrow transplant, IVF and other fields of treatment across India, USA and the UK. Hence, depending on the patients’ need, MedInIndia can help them avail medical treatment anywhere, not just India.”
