Customers who want to a buy a particular model of motorcycle are referred to corporate showrooms for the actual purchasing process
Sixteen days into the Dhaka International Trade Fair 2019 (DITF 2019), motorcycle pavilions are offering discounts and free registration on purchase of their vehicles to attract customers.
Although not all models of motorcycles are being exhibited at the fair, customers who want to a buy a particular model are referred to corporate showrooms for the actual purchasing process.
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Customer Relations Officer of Road Master Motorcycles Md Asaduzzaman said: "We are only displaying four models of motorcycles at the fair—which are Rapido 165cc, Velocity 125cc and Predator 150cc—for customers who have a budget range of Tk125,000 to Tk170,000."
The company is also displaying the Cupido 110cc motorcycle priced at Tk80,000, the lowest price they have to offer.
RFL Sales Representative Jahangir said they are selling Roadbeat motorcycles for Tk90,000, along with free registration, at the fair.
Local company Jamuna is also offering discounts and free registration at their pavilion. “We are selling 125cc Fabio motorcycle for Tk120,000, 140cc Victory motorcycle for Tk80,000, 150cc Zeus motorcycle for Tk125,000, and 150cc Evo motorcycle for TK150,000,” said Md Yearul Islam, senior technician of Jamuna Electronics.
Visitors at Jamuna's outlet at the fair were eager to buy new motorcycles, but they were also doubtful about the quality of the vehicles.
"Most of these motorcycles are from unfamiliar brands, and I am not sure if I can trust the quality of these bikes," said a customer at Jamuna's outlet.
The visitors also complained that most motorcycle outlets were promoting motorcycles of inferior quality, compared to the popular brands that are mostly preferred by Bangladeshi motorcyclists.
Various models of bicycles are also being displayed at this year's trade fair. Bicycle traders are also offering discounts and test ride options for customers at their outlets.
Sakib Ahmed, a high school student looking to buy a bicycle at the fair, said: "I want to buy a bicycle because riding a bicycle makes it easier to avoid traffic jams." Sakib added that the discounts being offered at the fair are quite lucrative for students like him who are on a tight budget.
RFL is selling Duranto bicycles, which have become popular among school and college students visiting the fair. Prices of bicycles at the fair range between Tk1,800 and Tk5,000.
