A workshop began on food policy formulation at CIRDAP and in the office premises of Integrated Food Policy Research Program (IFPRP) in Dhaka on Monday.

It is being conducted by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, for officials of the Ministry of Food and the Directorate General of Food, says a press release.

At the end of the program, a section of the top performers would receive additional training on food storage and policy analysis at the University of Illinois, USA.

The workshop aims to increase the analytical capacity of the trainees, enabling them to contribute to food policy formulation and implementation.

The program ends on February 20.

IFPRP is a component of the Modern Food Storage Facilities Project (MFSP).

Financed by the World Bank, MFSP is working on upgrading the nation’s food policy infrastructure that includes building modern silos, linking all public storage facilities, and setting up an integrated MIS system.
