The College of Tourism and Hospitality Management of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) recently held a two-day international e-symposium on contemporary issues in tourism.
Assistant Professor of CTHM and the Coordinator of the e-symposium organizing committee Md Yusuf H Khan informed that top tourism scholars from 13 countries attended the symposium, according to a press release.
The scholars included Prof Colin Michael Hall from New Zealand, Prof DimitriosBuhalis from UK, Prof Cihan Cobanoglu from USA, Prof Noel Scott from Australia, Prof Sari Lenggogeni from Indonesia, Prof Alfonso Vargas Sanchez from Spain, Prof Erdogan Ekiz from Morocco, Prof Yana Wengel from China, Prof Michail Toanoglou from South Korea, Prof Celia Ramos from Portugal, Prof Aysen Ercan Istin from Turkey and Prof Jeet Dogra from India.
They delivered their thoughts based on the research and theoretical studies at the symposium on various issues, such as sustainable tourism, ICT applications in tourism, pandemics and tourism: opportunities and challenges, destination branding and crisis, destination development for tourism cities, smart and ambient intelligent tourism, over-tourism in outdoor spaces and halal tourism.
Shahid Hamid, chairman of PATA Bangladesh Chapter, and Al Amin, general manager of Six Seasons Hotel Dhaka, also presented their thoughts as industry experts at the e-symposium.
