Food, online shopping delivery will be allowed during lockdown

In addition, restaurant kitchens that deliver can be kept open from 12pm to 6pm and from 12am to 8am

The delivery of food, online shopping and goods will be allowed during the strict lockdown that goes into effect from Wednesday, according to a directive by the Ministry of Commerce. 

They however have a seven-point instruction on this and health and safety guidelines have to be maintained a 100%. 

The e-commerce cell of the Ministry of Commerce sent a letter to the concerned departments of the country on Tuesday on the basis of the conditional ban imposed by the Cabinet Division on the movement from 8am on Wednesday to midnight on April 21. Letters have been sent to all the divisional commissioners of the country, all the metropolitan police commissioners, deputy commissioners and superintendents of police.

According to the directive, trucks and vehicles engaged in transporting food, agricultural products and other essential commodities will be able to move around the clock. Shopping online will be encouraged. The deliveryman will be able to move normally from 12pm to 8am following hygiene rules. The warehouse can be kept open to ensure the supply of goods.

In addition, restaurant kitchens that deliver can be kept open from 12pm to 6pm and from 12am to 8am. Deliverymen will not be allowed to enter the kitchens. 

The respective institutions will provide the necessary identity cards for the suppliers and the persons and vehicles engaged in the transportation of goods. E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (ECAB) logo and serial number identification card can be used for suppliers and vehicles. 

Meanwhile, a control cell has been set up to co-operate in the production, import, transportation and marketing of daily commodities, the Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.
