Besides investigating the financial details, the audit firms will also look into the issue of product delivery

The Bangladesh Bank has asked the government to appoint audit firms to look into the financial statements of nine e-commerce platforms.

In a letter to the Commerce Ministry on Sunday, the central bank has recommended audits into Alesha Mart, Dhamaka, E-orange, Sirajganj Shop, Aladiner Prodip, Qcoom, BoomBoom, Adyan Mart and Need.com.bd.

The recommendation of a third party audit came in response to a letter by the ministry on August 24 to the central bank over the latest audit reports of the online marketplaces, reports Bangla Tribune.

The ministry had sought information on the total liabilities of the companies to the buyers and merchants, the amount of current and fixed capital of the companies as well as the location of fund transfers and transactions.

According to the central bank’s recommendation, the audit firms should be investigating the financial statements of the companies as well as any anomalies in product delivery.
