Swadhinata Bankers Parishad has staged a demonstration in the capital’s Motijheel area demanding punishment to some members of self-proclaimed Combined Bargaining Agents (CBAs) of Rupali Bank, who assaulted two top officials of the bank.
The parishad, a platform of pro-Awami League bankers, formed a human chain and handed over a memorandum to Ataur Rahman, managing director of the bank, on Wednesday.
On Monday, the pro Awami League CBA members assaulted general manager and assistant general manager of the bank aft er the secretary of elected CBA of the bank was restored to his post at the head office.
The attackers were locked into an altercation with the officials over why the GM and AGM had accepted the CBA secretary at the head office again.
Earlier, the secretary was transferred to a branch of the bank.
Later, he got a High Court order, which cancelled the transfer order, as no CBA member can be transferred from the head office as per rules.
Swadhinata Bankers Parishad President Hamidul Alam and General Secretaries Shawkat Hossain Sajal and Sabbir Hossain Shimul were present at the programme.
