MTB opens first private bank museum

Syed Mahbubur Rahman said it was a good initiative to inaugurate the museum in the country’s banking sector

Mutual Trust Bank Limited on Monday inaugurated the ‘MTB Museum’ in the country.

As the chief guest, Syed Manzur Elahi, director and founding chairman of the bank, inaugurated the museum at the Samson H Chowdhury Auditorium of MTB Tower at Bangla Motor in the capital.

MTB Chairman Md Hedayetullah, Managing Director and CEO Anis A Khan, Managing Director (designate) Syed Mahbubur Rahman and Deputy Managing Director Syed Rafiqul Haq were also present at the inauguration program. 

The bank’s museum will reflect its 20-year journey and achievements from 1999 to 2019. It will showcase the photos of bank’s directors, chairmen, vice chairmen, annual general meetings, annual business conferences, managing directors, branches, ATM booths, air lounges and privilege centers of the bank. 

“Banking sector are playing a vital role for the country’s economy. If a country’s banking sector is good, the overall economy will become good,” said Syed Manzur Elahi in his speech. 

The country’s overall economy would be affected if the banking sector faced troubles, he added.

Syed Mahbubur Rahman said it was a good initiative to inaugurate the museum in the country’s banking sector. Through the museum, new generation and new bankers would know about the MTB and banking industry, he added. 

“The museum is an example for the country’s banking sector. We will collect various things and memorable moments that will reflect the journey of the bank since 1999,” said Anis A Khan. 

The bank has also inaugurated a terracotta wall, painted at the entrance of the MTB Tower. The terracotta wall will reflect the spirit of the liberation war of 1971. 

After the inauguration program, the bank unveiled its calendar for 2020. The theme of the calendar is “Mujib Shoto Borsho”  which highlights the paintings and precious moments of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on different pages of the calendar. The paintings were drawn by 12 famous local artists.
