The nomination phase is open until January 28, 2021
The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) in Bangladesh yesterday initiated the second edition of the HSBC Business Excellence Awards to felicitate local business enterprises and entrepreneurs for their contribution to the sustainable growth of the economy.
Along with two new ones, awards will be given on eight categories this time, according to a press release.
Three categories are dedicated to export excellence - readymade garments, supply chain/backward linkage and non-traditional and emerging sectors.
Additionally, businesses will be honoured in the fields of import substitution and leader in inbound investment, while a special achievement award will also be given to an individual or an organisation who has made exemplary contribution to country's socioeconomic growth.
The two new categories are excellence in sustainability and best in innovation and technology.
The theme of this edition is "The Year of Resilience".
Business enterprises and entrepreneurs can nominate themselves in eight categories by filling in a nomination form.
Winners will be selected based on aspects such as, annual contribution to the national exports and economy, diversity, responsibility, sustainable business practices, governance strengths, regulatory compliance, etc.
The Ministry of Commerce and the British High Commission are supporting the award.
A jury board comprising members from HSBC senior management team and members from the two supporting organisations will do adjudication.
These awards aim to acknowledge thriving businesses in Bangladesh, and enable them to connect with high growth global opportunities – something HSBC has been doing for 155 years around the world, said Md Mahbub ur Rahman, CEO of HSBC Bangladesh.
"We are proud to be playing our role in supporting those who are taking great strides to develop the powerhouse of our economy," said Kevin Green, country head of wholesale banking at HSBC Bangladesh.
Nomination forms and other details of the programme are available at business.hsbc.com.bd/bea.
Organisations can also nominate others for any categories of the programme.
The nomination phase is open until January 28, 2021.
