The export-import committee of Petrapole land port has withdrawn its strike.

The strike was called on Tuesday morning.

Trade between Benapole and Petrapole land ports resumed Wednesday morning, after the strike was called off Tuesday evening.

The five point strike was called by Petrapole’s export-import committee, demanding the return and compensation for seven Indian trucks damaged in a fire at Benapole land port on June 3.

The demand points included – return of all Indian cargo trucks after unloading goods, within 24 hours; Indian truck drivers would not be responsible for any goods that go missing during unloading of goods at Benapole land port; truck drivers would not bear any kind of costs, including signing of invoices and costs associated with unloading of goods. There must be adequate parking space, bathrooms for drivers, and CC cameras installed in the warehouse.

It was decided to meet all five points demanded by the Indian side, at a meeting on Tuesday evening, held between export-import leaders of both countries.

Benapole Port Director (traffic) Aminul Islam said: “We had a fruitful discussion with our Indian counterpart; they have agreed to call off the strike and it was decided in the meeting to accept all of their demands.”
