Electronics manufacturer Minister opens factory in Mymensingh

Bangladeshi electronics manufacturing company Minister has opened its new factory in Mymensingh.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed inaugurated the factory as the chief guest on Saturday.

Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matiur Rahman, Minister Hi-Tech Park Ltd Chairman MA Razzak Khan, and the company’s MD Dilruba Tanu were present during the inauguration.

Aiming to expand its market to meet the growing demand in the country, the local electronics brand has opened a refrigerator and an air conditioner factory at Trishal upazila of the district, at a cost of Tk500 crore.

The factory is built over 200 bigha (3 bigha = 1 acre) of land. When fully operational, it will be able to manufacture 10,000 refrigerators and air conditioners per day. 

From the production of electronic equipments to assembling them, everything will be done at the factory.

The company’s Chairman MA Razzak said they are now thinking of exporting their product alongside upgrading their market in Bangladesh. 

“Already we are in talks in this regard with India, Nepal, Pakistan, Bhutan, Middle East and several African states,” he said, adding, “The company is also planning to manufacture mobile phones and laptops.”

Minister was first introduced in the market in 2013 with the slogan—“Amar ponyo, amar desh, gorbo Bangladesh” (my product, my country, we’ll build Bangladesh), while MA Razzak launched his maiden electronic goods venture “MyOne Electronics Ind Ltd” in 2002.

Minister Hi-Tech Park Ltd also manufactures CRT TVs, LED TVs, fans, electric irons, electronic rice cooker, induction stove, toasters, blenders, washing machines and sandwich-makers, apart from refrigerators and air conditioners.
