Bangladesh to showcase its development at Dubai Expo 2021

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi to inaugurate Bangladeshi pavilion on October 1

Bangladesh is all set to highlight its achievements accumulated over the last 50 years at the upcoming Dubai 2021 Expo, said Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Monday.

He will be traveling to Dubai to inaugurate the Bangladeshi pavilion at the expo, which its organizers claim to be the third biggest global event following the Olympic Games and the FIFA World Cup.

Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh made the announcement at a press conference held at the meeting room of the Commerce Ministry Secretariat in the capital.

“The World Expo will be an opportunity to showcase the economic development, progress, trade potential, and culture of different countries to the world,” Munshi also said.

The 6-month-long Dubai Expo is going to start on October 1 in Dubai in which the Commerce Ministry hopes to brighten the image of the country by promoting various sectors of Bangladesh, promoting products, ideas, national brands, tourism, history, and business environment.

For this, the Ministry of Commerce is coordinating with various ministries and departments of Bangladesh to showcase relevant products as well as audio-visual, documentary, etc through a two-storied pavilion.

The ground floor of the pavilion will be used for exhibitions and the second floor will be used for office, seminar, and business-to-business meetings.

The commerce minister also said that the exhibition title of Bangladesh pavilion would be “Indomitable Bangladesh: Towards Sustainable Development."

The main themes of the Dubai 2021 Expo are "connecting minds, creating the future", with its sub-themes focusing on opportunity, mobility, and sustainability.

The last World Expo was held in 2015 in Milan, Italy.

The UAE is hosting the World Expo 2021 in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia for the first time.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the expo will start on October 1 and will continue till March 31, 2022.

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Hafizur Rahman, Joint Secretary Abdur Rahim Khan, and senior officials of the Ministry were present at the meeting.
