Tk123,345cr ADP outlay gets approved

Update : 12 May 2016, 09:50 PM
A meeting of the National Economic Council, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, endorsed the ADP outlay for the 2016-17 fiscal year yesterday. The Planning Ministry originally proposed a Tk109,200cr outlay, which was 20% higher than the Tk91,000cr revised ADP for the ongoing fiscal year. On top of the ministry's proposal, the prime minister allocated a further Tk1,500cr to meet demands from different ministries and divisions, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal told reporters after the meeting. The total ADP becomes Tk123,345 crore when the Tk12,645cr outlay for autonomous bodies is taken into account. Kamal said that from the approved ADP outlay, Hasina relocated and assigned Tk3,000cr for the Power Division. The planning minister said a total Tk70,700cr would come from the government exchequer, Tk40,000cr from foreign assistance and Tk12,645cr from autonomous bodies. “We have allocated Tk28,503cr for the country's transportation sector, with the biggest allocation of Tk6,025cr going to the Padma Bridge project,” Kamal said. According to the ADP proposal, the Education Ministry would get the second biggest allocation of Tk14,457cr, followed by Tk12,664cr for Power Division and Tk8,988cr for rural development and rural enterprises. A total Tk2,977cr would be allocated as development assistance for local development projects in city corporations, zila-upazila-union parishads, and the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Minister Kamal said. Sheikh Hasina also issued a directive that the same project director cannot be appointed for multiple development projects from the coming fiscal year, while all directors would have to stay in their respective project areas. The projects that have been going on for a long time would not get any more deadline extension from the next fiscal year, the premier ordered.
