Youth and Sports Ministry’s allocation slashed by highest 24.36%
Despite a more than 6% hike in the national budget for the upcoming fiscal year compared to the outgoing one, some 14 ministries and divisions will receive reduced allocation in FY 2021-22.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal placed the budget of Tk603,681 crore for the 2021-22 fiscal year in parliament on Thursday. The sum allocated for the outgoing fiscal year was Tk568,000.
He proposed that Cabinet Division’s allocation be reduced by 7.37% to Tk239 crore, Planning Division’s by 9.21% to Tk1,133 crore, Rural Government and Cooperatives Division’s by 19.87% to Tk1,791 crore, Security Services Division’s by 1.3% to Tk3,808 crore, Legislative and Parliament Affairs Division’s by 10% to Tk36 crore and Posts and Telecommunications Division’s by 18.82% to Tk2,549 crore.
Also, allocation for the Industries Ministry may drop by 1.8% to Tk1,585 crore, Textiles and Jute Ministry by 3.08% to Tk692 crore, Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry by 2% to Tk1,221 crore, Food Ministry by 12.18% to Tk5,310 crore, Housing and Public Works Ministry by 8.6% to Tk6345 crore, Information Ministry’s by 2.98% to Tk1,008 crore, Youth and Sports Ministry’s by 24.36% to Tk1,115 crore and Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry by 4.3% to Tk1,182 crore.
