The proposed budget, worth Tk603,681 crore, sets aside Tk225,324 crore for ADP
The government has proposed to put a hefty sum into 10 of its mega projects in the national budget for 2021-22 fiscal year, which sets aside Tk225,324 crore for the Annual Development Program (ADP).
In the ADP, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant tops the list with a proposed allocation of Tk18,426.16 crore, followed by Matarbari ultra super critical coal-fired power plant with Tk6,162 crore.
If the budget proposal is approved, the Primary Education Development Program (PEDP 4) is set to get Tk5,053.98 crore, while Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line 6) will get Tk4,800 crore.

Besides, the Padma Bridge Rail Link has a proposed allocation of Tk3,823.51 crore, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge Tk3,580 crore, and the Padma Bridge Tk3,500 crore.
Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway is set to receive Tk3,227.20 crore, and the Expansion and Strengthening of Power System Network under the DPDC area project will get Tk3,051.11 crore.
The expansion project of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka will get Tk2,827.52 crore in the new budget, according to the proposal.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal placed the proposal for FY2021-22 national budget in parliament on Thursday afternoon.
