The insurance sector contributed 30.6% of the total turnover
Benchmark Indices posted moderate gains on Tuesday with the turnover in the Dhaka bourse staying above Tk2,000 crore-mark.
Confidence level in the stock market is expected to remain high as investors deemed the
budgetary impact on the stock market to be positive in selective sectoral issues, said the Daily Market Review of EBL Securities Ltd.
The key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange, DSEX closed at 6,023.2 points yesterday after gaining 0.79% while CASPI advanced 0.66% to close at 17,431.2 points.
DSE Shariah based index DSES advanced 0.09% to end at 1,290.5 points, while blue-chip index, DS30 went up by 0.04% to close at 2,195.9 points.
Participation in the Dhaka Stock Exchange stood at Tk2,065.8 crore during the session, which was Tk2,083.3 crore in the previous session.
The insurance sector contributed 30.6% of the total turnover while textile, miscellaneous and banking sectors contributed 11.1%, 11.1% and 10.1% respectively, according to stockbangladesh.com.
A total of 86 transactions on 47 stocks worth Tk38.1 crore were executed in the block market of Dhaka Stock Exchange, showed Detailed DSE Market Statistics.
Bangladesh Export Import Company Ltd secured the leadership position on the top turnover chart with a turnover of Tk154.5 crore with its share price closing at Tk91.1 per share. The stock was followed by Pioneer Insurance Company Ltd with Tk76.2 crore, Fortune Shoes Ltd with Tk54.4 crore, LankaBangla Finance Ltd with Tk48.4 crore and National Feed Mill Ltd with Tk42.5 crore.
Islamic Finance & Investment Ltd secured the highest gain of 10% during the session. The stock was followed by National Housing Fin and Inv Ltd with 10%, Gemini Sea Food Ltd with 9.9%, Asia Insurance Ltd with 9.9% and Phoenix Insurance Company Ltd with 9.9%.
MI Cement Factory Ltd turned out to be the worst loser with its price declining by -4.3%. The stock was followed by Bangladesh Welding Electrodes Ltd with -3.6%, First Finance Ltd with -3.1%, GQ Ball Pen Industries Ltd with -2.8% and Square Textile Ltd with -2.8%.
Among the traded issues 181 gained, 145 declined and 43 remained unchanged during the session in Dhaka Stock Exchange while 148 gained, 111 declined and 41 remained unchanged in Chittagong Stock Exchange.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange currently has a market capitalization of Tk508,714 crore with the benchmark index, DSEX up by 11.50% since the beginning of this year.
