British American Tobacco Bangladesh Company (BATBC) will invest Tk322.2 crore in its Savar site factory.
The company made the disclosure in a filing with Dhaka Stock Exchange on Thursday.
“This investment would cater for the upcoming export opportunities and create contingency capacity,” the company said, adding that the investment will be funded from internal sources and bank financing based on the cash flow of the company.
In a separate filing, the company said that its earnings per share (EPS) was Tk8.79 for the second quarter (April-June) of 2021, 60.1% up from Tk5.49 a year earlier.
The EPS increased due to higher profit after tax compared to the same period last year. It was mainly driven by growth in volume offset by growth in operating expenses, BATBC said in the filing.
