Aiming to impart quality education, an English medium school Frobel Academy was inaugurated in the port city on August 18.
The inaugural ceremony was held at the Mezban Hall of Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony as chief guest, Waseqa Ayesha Khan MP said that the government was committed to improving overall education of the country.
“The education sector now receives 12.6 percent of the total budget. The budgetary allocation should be increased further,” added the ruling party lawmaker.
“I am impressed with the mission and vision of the educational institute. The academy will help instill social responsibility and patriotism among the students,” hoped the MP, who is also the central vice president of Bangladesh Mohila Awami League.
“Education is not confined to topping the list and obtaining good grades. The purpose of education should be turning an individual into a good human being,” said Khan.
Expressing optimism that the children and the parents would benefit from the academy, Khan urged the school authorities to take good care of the children with special needs.
Speaking at the event, Ali Husain Akbarali, chairman of steel manufacturing conglomerate BSRM Group said that the educational institute was an initiative of BSRM Group of Companies.
“There is a dearth of quality English medium schools in the port city. Therefore, BSRM group established the academy with a view to providing quality education. The proceeds from the school will be spent for non-profit purposes,” said Akbarali.
Speaking as special guest, Sufi Mohamed Mizanur Rahman, Chairman of PHP Group said that schools should inculcate all the human values into the minds of the children from an early age.
“We are now busy meeting our day-to-day needs but we tend to be oblivious to the purpose of life. A man of wealth is envied and flattered but a man of character is honoured by all. The purpose of education should instill a sense of dignity, honour and duty towards others,” said Rahman.
Frobel Academy offers its students Cambridge International Primary Curriculum from class one onwards. The curriculum also includes social studies, Bangla, information technology, health education, religious studies and foreign languages.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Huwra Zohair, Sabeen Aameir, directors of Frobel Academy and Tehseen Zohair Taherali, principal of Frobel Academy, among others.
