‘Poramon 2’ successfully tops box office for fourth week

From Friday, the film entered its fourth successful running week and was screened in 77 theatres nationally

Jaaz Multimedia’s hit film “Poramon 2,” starring Siam Ahmed and Pujja Cherry, on Friday, cemented its fourth consecutive week leading box office sales.. The film was released in just 22 theatres at release this Eid-ul-Fitr. After receiving a massive positive response from movie-goers, the film sold out in every theatre.

In their second week, the film was screened in 23 theatres—which increased to 35 theatres in their third week. From Friday, the film entered its fourth successful running week and was screened in 77 theatres nationally. 

The film’s teaser trailer had been released at the 71st Cannes Film Festival’s Marché du Film on May 12—making it the first commercial Dhallywood film in the international film market for overseas distribution. 

“Poramon,” directed by Zakir Hossain Raju and produced by Jaaz Multimedia, was released in 2013, and was the most commercially successful film that year. The screenplay was adapted from a true story of the Bandarbans, where the film was mostly shot. The film starred: Mahia Mahi, Saimon Sadik, Anisur Rahman Milon, Aliraj, Monira Mithu, Bipasha Kabir, Misha Showdagor, and many other actors.

“Poramon 2” is directed by the young filmmaker Raihan Rafi, and starrs newcomers Siam Ahmed and Pujja Cherry Roy. Though model and actor Siam has acted in numerous TV dramas, commercials, and short films, this was his debut on the big screen.
